David Bowie self-portrait print by Rykodisc
8” x 10”
Numbered edition of 500
This image, created by charcoal, was created by David Bowie to promote the Heroes album. Modeled after the album cover photographed by Masayoshi Sukita, it was used on various posters and t-shirts, but it was initially used as a large print given away as a prize to a contest promoting the album. The image is ubiquitous and is one of the best known pieces of art produced by David Bowie. This piece is a reprint from the 90s, when Rykodisc released a limited number of them as a gift for retailers and other institutions that supported the David Bowie catalog. It was never made available to the public. This items is quite rare and rarely comes to market.
There is some edge were, as you can see from the image. But it doesn’t impact the image. Overall, in excellent condition.
